  1. I am so glad to finally find someone who has this same plant. I have had mine for over 6 years and it is huge! I have tried to propigate it but have been unsuccessful, but seeing your success, I will try again. So many people compliment my plant and want one too. I got some mealy bugs on it and have sprayed it and bagged it. They disappeared but I am always on the watch. It is so beautiful but I woudl like to trim it back a bit as it has grown so wide. Do I just cut off the stems where I want it so be narower? Will they bleed and if so what do I do? A. Patrick arjapatrick@msn.com

  2. Hi Patrick,

    Thanks for visiting my blog.
Propagating gollum should be really easy, just take some leaves and lay them down horizontally in a pot with some soil (better mixed with sand).
Keep the soil lightly moist, spray every few days when you see is is dry,and put it on window sill but not in direct sunlight, ideal temperature would be between 22C and 24C.Within a month you should be able to see small plantlets.
Otherwise, you can take a cut,not too big,and leave it for few days in a cool place, for the wound to callous (white dry skin) ,and then push it in a small pot, once you see new leaves it means it started rooting, leave it for a couple more month, and then you can plant it wherever you want.
As for trimming i never trimmed mine drastically, just few times, here and there, although i m planing to do it, and i would like mine to look like the one you can see in the following picture.

I think i ll do it once i have some free time:)
Yes just cut the stem, and it is ok if it bleeds, within 2/3 days it will callous.
and the stem you cut it you can use it for starting a new plant.

    Good luck

  3. Hi, some of my gollums leaves have fallen off and have had clean cuts when doing so, not tearing the bottom of their leaves at all. I put them aside to callus, and then later put them on top of dirt, but all they did was shrivel. Does gollum propagation work the same way other succulents do where you can wiggle their leaves off and continue with the process, or do I actually need to cut off the gollum leaf for it to work? Thanks so much,

    Laura
